Sugar Rush Cakes and Confections is a locally owned and operated custom baker and decorator of fondant wedding, birthday, engagement, anniversary, bar mitzvah, bat mitzvah, party, celebration or special occasion cakes. We are based in the Washington DC Southern MD Annapolis area. Sugar Rush bakes cakes for the Washington DC Maryland areas of Anne Arundel County, Queen Anne’s County, Calvert County, Prince Georges County, St. Mary’s County and Charles County areas as well as these communities: Annapolis, Edgewater, Waldorf, La Plata, Leonardtown, Lexington Park, Hughesville, Barstow, Broomes Island, Chesapeake Beach, Dowell, Dunkirk, Huntingtown, Lusby, North Beach, Owings, Port Republic, Prince Frederick, St. Leonard, Solomons Island and Sunderland.

Our Owner

Our owner did not want her eldest son’s birthday cake to look like a bakery purchased sheet cake.  His favorite cartoon character as a one year old was Tweety Bird so she made him one.  Eleven years ago this began her endeavor of cake baking which led to a first place finish at a cake decorating competition in Ohio in late January 2010. 

She has five children so this gives her at least five birthday cake projects per year in her own family.

Cake Baking Competition

The Art of the Cake Live Challenge cake baking competition is a yearly event in Ohio whose contestants are given a themed based birthday cake to produce in four hours.  The cake to be produced was a birthday cake for a 13 year old girl including her favorite colors, interests, cake flavor, musical artist and her characteristics.  The cake had five tiers including purse and bangle bracelets as decorations and was all edible made from sugar.

Washington DC Maryland Wedding Cake Availability & Pricing

Our fondant wedding cake price per serving starts at 6 dollars each.  This will vary according to the intricacy of your chosen individual custom design and the time needed to create it. The final price is determined by multiplying the price per serving by the number of servings you select.

  • There is a 600 dollar minimum for all wedding cake orders.
  • Cake Reservations are taken on a first come first served basis. A fifty percent, non-refundable, deposit will secure your date on our baking calendar.
  • Wedding cakes require a one to three month advance notice.
  • Cake Boards require a fifteen dollar refundable deposit.

Washington DC Maryland Birthday Cake Availability & Pricing

Our fondant birthday cake price per serving starts at 6 dollars each.  This will vary according to the intricacy of your chosen individual custom design and the time needed to create it. The final price is determined by multiplying the price per serving by the number of servings you select.

  • There is a 75 dollar minimum for all birthday cake orders.
  • Birthday and celebration cakes require a one week notice.
  • Cake Boards require a fifteen dollar refundable deposit.
