Matoaka

Matoaka is a privately owned and operated bay-front getaway in Calvert County, Maryland. The facility is nestled quietly on the Western shore of the Chesapeake Bay with hundreds of feet of bay views and a one third of a mile private sandy beach for visitor access. The property's many acres are primarily wooded with fields and a winding dirt lane which brings visitors to the main grounds. The main grounds boast beautiful views of the bay, sunrises, and easy access to the beach. The cabins back up to a bamboo forest and overlook the bay.

On summer days the early morning riser is greeted by beautiful sunrises, shore birds, woodland birds, and the slight sound of a diesel engine from the local crab boats bringing in the days catch. Throughout the day, visitors can bask in the sun on the sandy beach, stroll the beach for fossils, fish, swim, relax, and boat. Being so secluded, the place is truly quiet, and allows people to completely separate themselves from the hustle and bustle of the city, while becoming more in touch with their natural surroundings.

Although secluded, the facility is only a short distance from all of Calvert County's many attractions. Solomon’s Island is only minutes to the south, Chesapeake Beach and Prince Frederick only minutes in the other direction. Throughout the summer months, the County offers many things to keep tourists busy, from Museums and Charter Boats to Water Parks and Forth of July Celebrations. However, for those who prefer simply to relax on the beach, the beach is always open.

A good family getaway, the property is safe for children of all ages, with plenty of things to keep them occupied. A basketball court offers a safe place for kids to congregate to, and the beach, while there is no lifeguard, is shallow and the bottom is slowly sloping, perfect for the youngster who is not a strong swimmer.

With so many adventures at your finger tips, this is a wonderful place for families who just want to get away from it all. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you.
